P12- “The Gathering”!

Posted by gkaiser on September 25, 2010

Each new P12 year we start at Cornerstone Farm, the home of JPUSA’s Cornerstone Festival grounds. We call this event The Gathering. The core of it is a time to re-connect (for those P12’ers continuing on after the summer break) and for new students to get acquainted with staff and one another, and for about 10 intense days of learning, social interaction and getting to know one another and start the year with a bang.

There are plenty of times for various sorts of both shared and alone time worship, study and play as well.

Most days include five different classes based in Bible, relationship and community. Self-assessment, reflection and conversation are encouraged and we find, helpful for all involved, both staff and students.

This year’s Gathering has been full, as usual, the input challenging and the response very encouraging. God is up-close and personal πŸ™‚

The weather began a bit warm, has just now turned a little colder, but mostly we have seen sun and little rain. The leaves are just beginning to change- and of course our deepest concern is that lives are changed toward Jesus and His own character and personality becoming more clear as well as evident in all of us.

Thanks for your prayers and for stopping by!

New P12 Year To Begin

Posted by gkaiser on August 20, 2010

So the staff is now in the prayer, communication and planning phase for the new Project 12 year.

Our schedule is based on a trimester system and you can find plenty of info. with regard to what we teach, requirements and such elsewhere here.

Our new year kicks off with The Gathering, a welcome-back and opening session sort of intensive which takes place at Cornerstone Farm in rural Illinois over a ten day period of prayer, worship, teaching, bonfires, shared meals, fun and free times in a beautiful outdoor setting with a lake, ponds and a lot of land for exploring.

At present it looks like we will begin the 2010-2011 year with appx. 22 students. Relationships, Bible, Discipleship and Community are as always, our focus and core emphasis.

Thanks for your prayers and stopping by!

Graduation & Project 12 Year Update

Posted by gkaiser on July 11, 2010

We often refer to our “Project 12 year”… but it really only lasts ten months. And I think at times seems like a year in that so much happens.

Our 3rd trimester graduation just took place! More on that in a moment…

We had recently returned to Chicago after the conclusion of JPUSA’s annual Cornerstone Festival where both staff and students served in a broad list of ways throughout the Fest. We had excellent response at our Project12/Grrr Records venue (newly christened “Chelsea Cafe”) where great music by a long list of bands including yours truly, Ami Moss (P12 staff) and The Unfortunate and several other Grrr artists as well as other bands performed. The coffee was excellent and so was the service by P12ers.

Several also worked with Curt Mortimer and Jon Trott to set up and serve in our on-site bookstore (new and used) complete with tables and chairs where the Fest seminar speakers were able to interact with people who wanted to talk more after each session.

The students got to experience Cornerstone Festival from the host side as opposed to attending as many of them had prior. A lot of work but really fun and valuable in learning practical ministry each summer at Cstone Farm.

And now graduation. The P12 year allows people to join at any point but they must meet attendance requirements for three full trimesters in order to graduate. Due to this we hold graduations at the end of each trimester.

Some grads move on, some continue serving at JPUSA, continue their education or return home and/or to their home church, etc., all as God leads each student.

Staff now takes time off for vacations, then prayer and planning for the next year and opening trimester which will begin mid-September. The cycle of growth continues!

We are truly excited about God’s direction for each of the 12 grads as well as seeing His grace working in each of those who will continue as well as join in the next Project 12 term.

We praise God for His faithfulness to us all- and for your prayers and various gifts of friendship, support and encouragement!

Finally, I will post this year’s past class list as well as my comments from this evening’s event.

Besides living and serving in the Jesus People U.S.A. community in practical service, planned and spontaneous worship, prayer and mission outreach (in general as well as during our two-week mission trip which took us to eight different locations this year); fifteen instructors taught a combination of over 360 hours combined over the 3 trimesters. Here is a list of the classes by title:

Artifacts of God, Person and Work of the Holy Spirit, Doing Community, My Life Map, Lectio Divina, Discipleship, How to Study The Bible, Spiritual Direction, Drama of Scripture, 21st Century Issues, Redeemed Lives, Bible Study, Anger Management, Community and Growth, JPUSA History, Ephesians, Accountability, Romans, Engagement and Marriage, Telling Yourself the Truth, Great Divorce, Mission Business, Beatitudes

We give all glory to Jesus for another year of His incredible presence and grace! Thanks for stopping by πŸ™‚ -Glenn

Blessed CHRISTmas and New Year!

Posted by gkaiser on December 24, 2009

We trust your Thanksgiving was a great one as was ours- and we’re now in full holiday-mode including Advent, Christmas and approaching the New Year and our 2nd trimester.

We had a wonderful graduation just prior to Christmas. Depending on when people join Project 12, they graduate at the end of any of the 3 trimesters.

Some P12ers hang out at JPUSA and some visit families over the holidays, but all are seeking the Lord and of course being encouraged to grow spiritually in a number of beneficial ways.

The snow is falling beautifully in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood as I write, but more beautiful still is the Savior who “moved into the neighborhood” (as Eugene Petersen puts it in “The Message”).

BLESSINGS and thanks for your prayers as we enter a fresh year of learning, serving and hopefully loving, living and acting as Jesus calls us to πŸ™‚

Some Pics from the Project 12 Orientation ’08

Posted by Jon on September 30, 2008

I had a wonderful time getting to know our students during orientation. I’ll blog more on my class — “Doing Community” — later on, but for now here are some of the pictures I grabbed with my little digital snapper. If too many of them look like we had fun, well… I guess we did.

Posted by gkaiser on September 20, 2008

Greetings from lovely Cornerstone Farm, about 3 miles from Marietta and 5 from Bushnell in beautiful west-central Illinois!

We are about to embark on another journey, this year we start with 20 students and a lot of great help from former P12 grads working on staff as well.

The weather is wonderful and forecast is excellent for Orientation week here.

We have a number of staffers ready with a full slate of teaching prepared, plenty of individual and group prayer, worship (several very good musicians this year), bonfires, personal sharing, fun/play, communion and more in the schedule.

It’s another year of doing our best to “ruin them for the world”… which simply means helping all of us together recognize and proclaim in thought, speech, choices and everyday life that Jesus Christ is Lord- and we are thankful and blessed to serve Him and others as His disciples, not merely caught in the typical world which is so very addicted to “self” and mere survival.

The kingdom of God has a King!

Our love and joy is to learn more about Him -and- how to build genuine relationships of integrity with Jesus, one another, then to reach out to those who don’t yet know or believe such a thing is even possible.

I can’t thank enough those of you who stop by this site- for your prayers and in some cases, financial support. Thank you So Much! We want our lives to be gifts to God and to many souls in this deeply needy world. Amen.

Project 12 (Web… & Glenn & Wendi) Update

Posted by gkaiser on August 26, 2008

Greetings πŸ™‚

Another year of P12 is nearly underway. By now you’ll have noticed the good work of Jon Trott on our site. Please look around as there is fresh (and more) detailed info. on Project 12 than ever- click away!

The staff is meeting, praying, discussing and tweaking, going over applications and readying for Orientation in mid-September as we kick off the ’08-’09 Trimesters.

I suppose many of you are (like Wendi and I) finishing up vacations and getting set to launch into autumn work, school and so on.

Some are preparing to join P12 in an adventure of community-based discipleship, study and practical work all laced together in Christ-focused relationships. Cool!

Please note that the host computer service company (off-site) is having serious issues with their servers. P12 isn’t affected as it’s hosted elsewhere- but glennkaiser.com, jpusa.org, cornerstonefestival.com, grrrrecords.com and many more of our main sites are currently down. Arrrgh! They’ll eventually fix what ails us but meanwhile those sites are not reachable. Please pray for ’em- and us and those trying to reach us via these means.

You can always email me directly at gkaiser@jpusa.org

AND- Wendi and I are constructing personal websites for each of us, hers centering around love, sex and relationships, mine on all the things I care deeply about… which is lots (!). I’ve been wanting to put up a couple sites like this for a long time, not as much eye-candy but quick loading, easy for me to admin. and add content to from where ever I am- and fewer worries about server issues such as the one I mentioned here.

As soon as either of these new blog/webpages are ready for viewing I’ll post the addresses here.

Thanks for your prayers, interest in P12 and here’s to the Lord moving more in and through all of us this upcoming year!

Love and Hugs,

-Glenn

Project 12 Video: “A Call for Discipleship”

Posted by Jon on July 28, 2008

Here’s a new video on our Discipleship Training School, Project 12. The video mixes old and new photos from P12’s sponsoring organization, Jesus People USA (JPUSA), with an explanation of sorts regarding our community’s founding focus on discipleship. Project 12 is our latest attempt to find ever-new ways to express and live discipleship out. Enjoy. And for those who might actually want to attend this year’s Project 12, or just know more, check around this Project12.us website.
